This is for the Shift Lead position. CNA license and 1 year
minimum of management experience and knowledge of the field is REQUIRED.
Position Summary
The CNA Supervisor position is responsible for maintaining the
quality and adequacy of the nursing practice. The CNA Supervisor is
responsible for recognizing and assisting in solving professional,
administrative, and supervisory problems in their assigned area. This
position exercises judgment in applying professional knowledge in
solving nursing problems within established policies and practices and
is reviewed by the supervisor.
Essential Job Duties
- THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION.
- Assures that appropriate staffing is in place. Receives CNA call
ins. Records call offs and updates schedule. Replaces absences and
vacancies for upcoming shift(s).
- Coordinates the care of residents on assigned shift. Communicates
shift concerns to the appropriate management.
- Ensures all sign-in sheets and completed and filed properly.
- Complete assignment sheets daily for staff.
- Ensures vitals and weights are completed and received by the nurse
on shift.
- May be required to assist in OTC medication for residents.
- Ensures all laundry is completed each shift.
- Serves as administrative authority for the smooth function of all
units on assigned shift. Notifies staff of any changes in resident
care or family requests. Notifies Administrator or Director of
Nursing of urgent concerns during the shift. When the concern is
non-urgent, notifies manager by phone message or e-mail.
- Receives employee, resident and family grievances. Refers
information to appropriate supervisor.
- Counsels personnel, as indicated. Completes appropriate
documentation and communicates with Director of Nursing.
- Performs rounds at least twice each shift to monitor the
conditions and care of acutely ill residents/clients.
- Attends all mandatory in-service training and upper management
meetings when requested.
- Must remain updated with policy and procedures of fire safety, bad
weather, and reporting resident abuse.
- Perform CNA duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) is required.
- Must meet all healthcare requirements, including Tuberculosis skin test
- Must be in positive standing with all healthcare agencies,
including the Employment Clearance Registry and Adult Maltreatment Registry
- Assisted Living Facility experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
This position may require frequent standing/walking,
bending/stooping, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling and occasional
carrying. Weights may vary from 70 to 300 pounds and the frequency of
treatments may vary from resident to resident. Occasionally the feet
and legs are used in the motion to release and lock brakes of
wheelchairs and beds.
