Job Description:

Position Summary


The Driver is responsible for daily transportation services. Serves as a positive role model while providing transportation service. These services may include performing vehicle inspections, preparing the vehicle for travel, and ensuring that periodic scheduled maintenance is completed and reports.


Essential Job Duties

  1. Safety Sensitive Position.
  2. Operates the assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner
  3. Assists residents in and out of the vehicle, operates ramps, lifts, and securement devices as needed.
  4. Reads and interprets maps and driving direction to plan the most efficient route service for residents; reads and interprets road signs
  5. Keeps the interior and exterior of the assigned vehicle clean.
  6. Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management
  7. Coordinates along with the maintenance department, the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions
  8. Fuels the assigned vehicle(s)
  9. Responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and rendering First Aid until emergency personnel arrive.
  10. Serves as a positive role model while providing transportation service.


Experience and Skills:



  1. High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) is preferred.
  2. Must meet all healthcare requirements, including Tuberculosis skin test
  3. Must be in positive standing with all healthcare agencies, including the Employment Clearance Registry and Adult Maltreatment Registry
  4. Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s) preferred.
  5. Ability to recognize maintenance needs and perform minor vehicle repairs preferred.
  6. First Aid and CPR certified required
  7. Must have current driver's license
  8. Must have an acceptable driving record and meet all requirements as determined by the Company's automobile insurance carrier as an insurable driver.


Physical Demands:

Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

This position may require constant standing/walking and repetitive motions, frequent bending/stooping, reaching, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling and occasional carrying.  Must be able to coordinate hands, fingers and feet with each other in response to visual stimuli. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
